Company Profile

Clube Amigos do Basquete (www.cabmadeira.net) in Funchal, Madeira, is a basketball club founded in 1979 and now well known not only in Portugal but also internationally. CAB has won many titles throughout the years, including National Championships, Portuguese Cups, Supercups and presence in the European FIBA Competitions. CAB has trained many female players who have become internationally known professionals, playing also in the Portuguese National Team.

A New Era: FirstOffice Professional

The managements of the male and female teams decided to share FirstOffice Professional, reducing the investment and increasing efficiency. The club can now manage its many contacts - customers, suppliers, sports agents, etc. - in a central database and have an overview of the Sales or Purchase Ledgers each time these are updated.

The Solution

Before choosing FirstOffice Professional, the club used the service of an external bookkeeper. Now an in-house accountant keeps track of all transactions periodically and always has up-to-date information available.



"A sports club and a sports-related public limited company are, from the administrative point of view, very complex structures," said CAB's accountant Eduardo Raposo. He adds: "However, with FirstOffice Professional it is possible to satisfy these needs and CAB is a good example of this."

According to Raposo, the most important benefits of using FirstOffice Professional are:

- A 360-degree view of the actual costs
through cost centres
- The easyness of running reports over any period, since the sports season may not be the same as the fiscal year.


Looking into the Future

The club's two teams CAB and CAB Madeira SAD would soon like to upgrade to HansaWorld Enterprise with its powerful integrated CRM tool.



"It would make communication more fluent. For example the mailing lists available in the CRM module would be a very useful tool to us for informing our supporters on different issues," Raposo explains.



The Internet Services that HansaWorld offers, especially SMS, are also of great interest to CAB, as these would make it easier to summon players, keep the public informed about the season’s calendar or communicate with supporters.
