Kaare A. Rustad AS is one of Norway's leading companies in the ventilation equipment industry. They are represented in Oslo, Trondheim and Bergen with a total of 28 employees. The company has a wide range of products and is the market leader for Camfills air conditioning systems. More than 10.000 items are handled by their three locations. Kaare A. Rustad AS previously used an accounting system from Ergosoft on a Unix server platform. That system was implemented 5 years ago, but did not have the capacity of moving into the future like today's business management systems. The old system was expensive to maintain, and programmers where needed to do the smallest things. It was just too old fashioned, and they had no new products to offer. The internet and the fact that three offices should be connected required more flexible systems, and easy to run systems.

Kaare A. Rustad AS looked at many systems including Navision, Damgaard Axapta, Rubicon and Hansa Financials. A system with low cost of ownership and no need for expensive consultants combined with the possibility to run everything through the internet for all locations was important. Multi location and a simple and easy to use interface was also important. Hansa Financials was looked at closely after the project team had visited Damgaard Axapta reference site in Copenhagen. Hansa Financials' speed over the internet and the user friendliness was just great, they thought. By hosting their own server, Hansa´s ASP technology enables all users to connect over the internet. By choosing Hansa Financials, the system would also require less consulting and costly, time consuming implementation.

The modules chosen for this implementation are: Accounting, Logistics, Sales Support, Quotations, Mail, Multiple internet access, Webshop and Corporate Portal. All this for a total of 25 concurrent users.

HIM Data was chosen to be the consultants to implement the system at the customers site. A two day pre project has been followed up by specialist training for different user groups. In total 8 days including one day installation and one day hands-on at startup day. The system will be live from November 1st 2000 and adjusted towards year end. HIM Data consultants also provided extra hardware for servers and have been responsible for converting some key data from the old system. HIM Data is an authorized Hansa Financials dealer. Their mission is to be the IT department for small and medium sized companies around the Oslo area. With in depth knowledge in hardware, network, internet, programming and business information systems, they were a good match for Kaare A. Rustad AS. After implementation, HIM Data works with a long-term vision to support the customer's use of the system. Their main enterprise is with the business management systems from Hansa Business Solutions, plus customer specific solutions for these made in Hansa Application Language (HAL) or other tools.
