Company Profile UAB “Databalt” is an office supplies wholesaler and retailer in Lithuania. The company, established in 1996, supplies goods to large retail chains as well as selling through their 2 stores located in 2 major Lithuanian cities – Vilnius and Kaunas and sales people in other Lithuanian cities. In 2004 “Databalt” set up an online webshop, allowing customers to buy goods directly. The company has grown significantly over the last few years and now employs 49 people, manages a centralised warehouse in Vilnius and serves more than 10000 customers. More information is available at www.maxioffice.lt Situation and Requirements "Databalt” started as a wholesaler and used a local DOS based accounting system. After a couple of years, the company started a new business venture and opened two retail outlets throughout Lithuania. To cope with the new requirements, a new system was needed which would support: - online, remote business operations; - a single online database for accounting, credit control, sales order processing and stock management; - the company’s future development by using flexible and scalable technology. HansaWorld Enterprise was chosen over Skaita (local Lithuanian accounting software), Navision and Concorde for its user-friendly interface, its wide range of functionality in the standard software version, its flexibility and its high price – performance ratio. “Databalt” knew they would develop and extend their business activities in the future but were unsure how this would move forward, therefore they were looking for a solution that could grow with them and support their development. A bespoke online CRM system was developed to allow sales agents to enter orders through a web browser, whilst at the customer’s site. The orders are entered into the central database real-time, enabling stock operators to start the picking and delivery processes immediately. The CRM system provides task management capabilities via a web interface allowing sales people to see their own tasks, as well as create new tasks for other employees. “Sometimes our sales people are working out of the office for weeks. The HansaWorld CRM system is a powerful tool for our employees allowing them to communicate with the office, receive the latest news and delegate tasks,” says Mr. Sirutis. The web-based CRM system has been improved significantly and developed into an online webshop. These will allow the sales force to work online via GPRS and will be more efficient than the web interface solution. It is also planned to implement handheld devices in the warehouse to automate and improve the logistics processes.
